I saw the first color (other than green) today. At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me - after all, it was just this morning that I was driving to work in white-out conditions! - but no, the tulips really are coming out!
Apparently I planted coral ones? For the life of me I don't remember what I planted last fall. I vaguely remember it being some kind of variety pack, and that's it.

SNOW! Grrrrr.
Okay, I know a lot of people are in climates where it's normal to still be getting snow in March, but I've been under the impression that it's practically unheard of here in Portland.
Thus I say: Grrrrr.
How irritating to be seeing snow pile up on my balcony! I hope the new growth on my clematis doesn't freeze.
I put some nasturtium seeds around the base of the tulips earlier this week, for some color when the tulips are gone. I haven't done much in terms of growing from seeds. We'll see how it goes, and if the snow screws it up at all.
